Hockey Codes

Jack Mulcahy, whose full name was John Mulcahy, was an Irish hurler born in 1918 who played for Kilkenny and, at club level, for Eire Og. A student at CBS Kilkenny, he won back-to-back All-Ireland Minor Championships in 1935 and 1936, joined the junior side in 1938 and won his first senior All-Ireland medal in 1939 in the thunder and lightning final against Cork. He formed a forward partnership with Seanie O'Brien and Jim Langton and added a second All-Ireland medal in 1947, after losing finals in 1945 and 1946. He also won seven Leinster titles, four county senior medals with Eire Og and later refereed. He died in 1962.
