Iser Kuperman

Iser Kuperman was a Ukrainian international draughts grandmaster who won the World Draughts Championship seven times, in 1958, 1959, 1961, 1963, 1965, 1967 and 1974, and was also a four time Panamerican champion. He first won the Soviet Russian draughts championship in 1945 on his debut and went on to win that title three more times. After emigrating from the Soviet Union to Israel and then to the United States in 1978, Kuperman continued competing internationally and became known as one of the greatest pool checkers players ever, earning recognition from the Homan Square Pool Checkers and Chess Club of Chicago. He was born in Poliske, in what is now Ukraine, near Chernobyl.
