Rodney Clark Hundley, known as Hot Rod, lived from 26 October 1934 to 27 March 2015 and was an American professional basketball player and television broadcaster. He played college basketball for the West Virginia Mountaineers, where his dribbling antics and daredevil maneuvers on the floor earned him his popular nickname and drew packed crowds to the Old Field House. The Cincinnati Royals selected him with the first overall pick of the 1957 NBA draft. Basketball shaped his whole life, bringing him honors in high school and most notably during his college years. He later worked as a broadcaster for the Utah Jazz, and in 2003 he received the Curt Gowdy Media Award from the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
