Günter Sawitzki (22 November 1932 to 14 December 2020) was a German football goalkeeper. His performances for the underdog side SV Sodingen, who finished third in the top German division in 1955, caught the attention of the West German coach Sepp Herberger and made him a proposed rival to Heinz Kwiatkowski and Fritz Herkenrath as successor to Toni Turek in the West German goal. He had already played in two games for West Germany when he left Sodingen to join VfB Stuttgart in 1956, and he stayed with Stuttgart for the rest of his career. His biggest success as a player was winning the West German Cup in 1958 with Stuttgart. He was in the West Germany squads at the 1958 FIFA World Cup, where the team finished fourth, and the 1962 FIFA World Cup, although he stayed in reserve at both, and he won ten caps up to 1963.
