Gunda Niemann-Stirnemann

Gunda Niemann-Stirnemann is a German former long track speed skater born September 7, 1966, in Sondershausen, East Germany, who won three Olympic gold medals across four Games from 1988 to 1998, taking the 3000 meters in 1992 and 1998 and the 5000 meters in 1992, plus five further silver and bronze medals. She dominated the World Allround Championships, winning nine titles between 1991 and 1999, set 18 world records over her career, and won the Oscar Mathisen Award as the sport's outstanding skater three years running from 1995 to 1997.
