Guillermo Vilas is a former professional tennis player born August 17, 1952, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, a left-hander who won 62 singles titles and 16 doubles titles over his career including four Grand Slam singles championships. He was ranked the ITF Grand Prix world number one for the 1974, 1975 and 1977 seasons, and in 1977 he won 16 ATP titles and set a 53-match winning streak on clay courts that stood as the longest of the Open Era, a season in which several publications including World Tennis Magazine named him world number one even though the ATP's own computer ranking placed him second. He was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 1991.
