Greg Chappell, born Gregory Stephen Chappell on 7 August 1948, is a former cricketer who represented Australia in both Tests and One-Day Internationals. The second of three brothers to play Test cricket, he was the pre-eminent Australian batsman of his time, combining elegant stroke making with fierce concentration, and he also bowled medium pace as an exceptional all-round player. At his retirement he held the world record for the most catches in Test cricket, and he was vice captain of the Australian squad that finished runners-up at the 1975 Cricket World Cup. His career straddled two eras as the game moved toward greater professionalism after the World Series Cricket split. Since retiring in 1984 he has worked in business, media, selection and coaching roles.
