Gerhard Berger

Gerhard Berger, born on 27 August 1959, is an Austrian former racing driver and motorsport executive who competed in Formula One from 1984 to 1997. Across 14 seasons he made 210 starts, which places him among the most experienced Formula One drivers of all time, and won ten Grands Prix, with 12 pole positions, 21 fastest laps and 48 podiums. He finished third overall in the championship twice, in 1988 and 1994, both times with Ferrari. His first and last victories were also the first and last victories for the Benetton team, eleven years apart, and he also won races with Ferrari and McLaren. At McLaren he drove alongside Ayrton Senna, contributing to the team constructors titles of 1990 and 1991. He returned to the sport in 2006 as co-owner of Toro Rosso, selling his 50 percent share back to Red Bull at the end of the 2008 season.
