Gerard Piqué Bernabeu, born on 2 February 1987, is a Spanish former professional footballer who played as a centre-back and is considered one of the greatest defenders of his generation, with 37 trophies to his name. He came through the La Masia academy of Barcelona, began his professional career with Manchester United in 2004 and returned to Barcelona in 2008, where he appeared in 616 competitive matches and won 31 major club titles, including nine La Liga trophies and three UEFA Champions League titles. He is one of only four players to have won the Champions League in two consecutive years with different clubs. He represented Spain 102 times from his debut in 2009, was an integral member of the teams that won the 2010 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro 2012, and retired from the national team after the 2018 FIFA World Cup. In 2022 he founded the Kings League, a sports league based in Spain.
