Fernando Alonso is a Spanish racing driver born July 29, 1981, in Oviedo. He won the Formula One World Drivers' Championship in 2005, becoming the first Spanish champion and, at 24, the youngest champion to that point, and successfully defended the title in 2006 against Michael Schumacher, both times driving for Renault. He also won the 2018 to 2019 FIA World Endurance Championship and two runnings of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, making him the only driver to hold both the Formula One and World Endurance drivers' titles, and he holds the Formula One record for career starts.
