Ewa Kłobukowska

Ewa Kłobukowska is a Polish former sprinter, born on 1 October 1946, who reached the top of women's sprinting in the mid 1960s. At the 1964 Olympics in Tokyo she won a gold medal in the 4 x 100 m relay and a bronze medal in the 100 m sprint. Two years later she won two gold medals and one silver medal at the 1966 European Athletics Championships. She set three world records: one in the 100 m (11.1 s, in Prague in 1965) and two in the 4 x 100 m relay, in Lodz and Tokyo in 1964. For a time she was considered the fastest woman in the world. Her records were annulled by the International Association of Athletics Federations after a sex identification test in 1967 incorrectly labeled her as not female, and the test procedures were later judged inadequate.
