Eliud Kipchoge is a Kenyan long-distance runner widely regarded as the greatest marathon runner in history. He won Olympic gold in the marathon in 2016 and 2021, held the marathon world record for several years, and became the first person to run a marathon distance in under two hours, in an unofficial, specially organized event in Vienna in 2019 that did not count as a world record under competition rules.
