Egon Adler was an East German road cyclist, born on 18 February 1937 in Großpösna and died on 28 January 2015. He trained as a roof tiler and later owned a cab company in Markkleeberg near Leipzig, and he rode for the army sports club Armeesportsklub Vorwärts in Leipzig. At the 1960 Rome Olympics he was part of the East German team in the 100 km team time trial, alongside Gustav-Adolf Schur, Erich Hagen and Günter Lörke. Lörke dropped out early, yet the team won the silver medal behind Italy. Adler also finished twentieth in the individual road race. East German riders were not allowed to enter the well-known road races in the West, so his successes came in the Peace Race, where he won almost five stages between 1958 and 1960, and in two national team titles in 1958 and 1959.
