Edward Patrick Francis Eagan, known as Eddie Eagan, lived from April 26, 1897 to June 14, 1967 and was an American athlete with a distinctive place in Olympic history. He won a gold medal as a light-heavyweight boxer at the 1920 Summer Olympics and, twelve years later, a gold medal in the four-man bobsled at the 1932 Winter Olympics. Few athletes have competed in both the Summer and Winter Games, and Eagan is the only one to have won a gold medal at each in different events. This entry places him with the combat sports because boxing was the discipline of his first title.
