Don Hyland, born on 28 January 1973, is a hurler from County Wicklow who played with the county team for almost 20 years, winning every other honour available to him at club and county level, including seven Kehoe Cups, a league title and one All-Ireland Senior B Hurling Championship. He retired from inter-county hurling in 2009 after a heavy loss to Westmeath in the Christy Ring Cup, but returned in 2010 to help Wicklow win a National Hurling League Division 3B title and reach the Christy Ring Cup semi-final, and in 2011 helped Wicklow win Division 3A and reach the Christy Ring Cup final, losing to Kerry on both occasions. In 2002 he became the first Wicklow man to win a Railway Cup medal, playing in six inter-provincial championships with Leinster from 1997 to 2003. He played hurling and football with Carnew Emmets and won seven Wicklow Senior Hurling Championship medals, and announced his inter-county retirement at 39 in 2012.
