Dimitar Berbatov is a Bulgarian former professional footballer who played as a striker, born in 1981 in Blagoevgrad and known for his technique and ball control. He began at Pirin, moved to CSKA Sofia, then to Bayer Leverkusen, where he reached the 2002 Champions League final as a substitute. He joined Tottenham Hotspur in 2006 and won the 2008 League Cup, then Manchester United in 2008, winning two Premier League titles and the 2010-11 Premier League Golden Boot, before Fulham, Monaco, PAOK and Kerala Blasters. He captained Bulgaria from 2006 to 2010, scored 48 goals in 78 matches, a national record shared with Hristo Bonev, and won Bulgarian Footballer of the Year a record seven times.
