Dieter Baumann, born on 9 February 1965, is a German former athlete who won the 5000 metres at the 1992 Summer Olympics, making him Olympic champion in the event. He had earlier won the silver medal in the same 5000 metres event at the 1988 Summer Olympics, so he took Olympic medals in the event at two Games four years apart. In 1999 he tested positive for the performance-enhancing drug nandrolone and received a two-year suspension from athletic competition.
