Dennis Kipruto Kimetto

Dennis Kipruto Kimetto, born on 22 January 1984, is a Kenyan long-distance runner who competes in road running events. He became the world record holder in the men's marathon with a time of 2 hours 2 minutes 57 seconds, and he held that record until Eliud Kipchoge broke it in 2018 with a time of 2 hours 1 minute 39 seconds. The marathon record is the defining feature of his career, since it made him the fastest marathon runner on record until 2018. His entry here is limited to what the lead of the source supports: his nationality, his discipline of road running and the record he set and later lost.
