Deng Yaping

Deng Yaping is a retired Chinese table tennis player who dominated the sport in the late 1980s and 1990s. Despite early rejection from the national team over her short stature, she became world champion multiple times and won Olympic gold in both singles and doubles at the 1992 Barcelona and 1996 Atlanta Games, holding the world number one ranking for eight consecutive years before retiring at age 24.
