David Lee Wells, born on May 20, 1963, is an American former professional baseball pitcher who played 21 seasons in Major League Baseball for nine teams, most notably the Toronto Blue Jays and the New York Yankees. Nicknamed Boomer, he was considered one of the league's top left-handed pitchers and made three All-Star appearances. In 1998 he pitched the fifteenth perfect game in baseball history. He appeared in the postseason as a member of six teams, a number tied for the most with Kenny Lofton, and won two World Series titles. After retiring in 2007 he worked as a broadcaster for MLB on TBS and hosted The Cheap Seats on FOXSports.com. His long career, his perfect game and his postseason record with so many clubs make him a distinctive figure among late twentieth century and early twenty-first century pitchers.
