David Price (baseball)

David Taylor Price is an American former professional baseball pitcher, born on August 26, 1985. He was selected first overall in the 2007 Major League Baseball draft by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, made his major league debut in September 2008, and later pitched for the Detroit Tigers, Toronto Blue Jays, Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers. He became a full-time starter in 2009, started the 2010 All-Star Game for the American League and won the 2012 Cy Young Award. After the 2015 season the Red Sox gave him a franchise-record seven-year, $217 million contract, then the largest total for a pitcher. He won the series-clinching game of the 2018 World Series for Boston and was part of the Dodgers team that won the 2020 World Series.
