Football Codes

Dante Bonfim Costa Santos, known simply as Dante, is a Brazilian football manager and former professional footballer, born on 18 October 1983, who played mainly as a centre-back and was also used as a defensive midfielder or left-back. After emerging at Juventude he played for Lille, Charleroi and Standard Liege, winning the Belgian Pro League with the last of these. Borussia Monchengladbach signed him in January 2009, and about two and a half seasons later he moved to Bayern Munich for a reported 4.7 million euros, where he won nine domestic and international honours including a Champions League title. After a brief spell at VfL Wolfsburg he returned to France with Nice, made more than 300 appearances over ten seasons, captained the side and retired in 2026 aged 42. He made his Brazil debut in 2013, won that year's Confederations Cup and played at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, both on home soil, and now coaches Bayern Munich II.
