FAQs

How many perfect 6.0 scores did Torvill and Dean earn?

They earned twelve sixes at the 1984 Olympics and thirteen at the 1984 World Championships.

The run of perfect marks began at the 1983 World Championships in Helsinki, where all nine judges gave Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean 6.0 for artistic impression with their interpretation of Barnum. At the 1984 Sarajevo Olympics their Bolero drew sixes for artistic impression from all nine judges, and their total of twelve sixes for the whole competition broke all previous records. Four weeks later, at the World Championships in Ottawa, they won their fourth successive world title with a total of thirteen sixes, bettering the record they had just set at the Olympics.
