Carmelo Anthony, nicknamed Melo, is an American former professional basketball player born on 29 May 1984. He won a national championship as a freshman at Syracuse in 2003 and was named most outstanding player of the NCAA Tournament, then was selected third overall by the Denver Nuggets in the 2003 NBA draft. Over 19 NBA seasons he played for the Nuggets, New York Knicks, Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Portland Trail Blazers and Los Angeles Lakers, was a ten time All-Star and six time All-NBA selection, and scored a career high 62 points against Charlotte in 2014. He played for the United States at four Olympics, a record, winning bronze in 2004 and gold in 2008, 2012 and 2016. He was named to the NBA 75th Anniversary Team and entered the Naismith Hall of Fame in 2025.
