Carmelita Jeter, born on November 24, 1979, is a retired American sprinter who competed in the 60 metres, the 100 metres and the 200 metres. After she ran a 100 metre personal best of 10.64 seconds at the 2009 Shanghai Golden Grand Prix, she was called the fastest woman alive for over a decade, from 2009 to 2021. Earlier she won 100 metre bronze medals at the 2007 and 2009 World Championships and a gold at the World Athletics Final. In May 2023 she became head coach of the track and field and cross country programs at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
