Cara-Beth Burnside

Cara-Beth Burnside, nicknamed CB, is a professional skateboarder and snowboarder, born on 23 July 1971, who has been ranked among the top female athletes in both sports and was the first president of the Action Sports Alliance. She started skating in men's amateur competitions in the 1980s because there were no women's skate contests, and learned to snowboard because of the lack of professional opportunities for female skaters. As a skateboarder she has won more than 16 titles, including at the X Games, All Girl Skate Jam, Vans Triple Crown, Slam City Jam and Soul Bowl, has five Summer X Games medals, was the first woman on the cover of Thrasher in 1989 and the first with a signature skate shoe in 1999, and was inducted into the Skateboarding Hall of Fame in 2015. She was on the first United States Olympic snowboarding team at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano and placed fourth.
