Bruce Bowen

Court and Net Team Sports

Bruce Eric Bowen Jr. is an American former professional basketball player, born on June 14, 1971, who played 13 seasons in the National Basketball Association. He went undrafted in 1993 after attending Edison High School and Cal State Fullerton, played in France and for the Rockford Lightning of the Continental Basketball Association, and made his NBA debut with the Miami Heat in 1996-97. After time with the Heat, Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers he signed with the San Antonio Spurs in 2001, became a starter, and won championships in 2003, 2005 and 2007. An eight-time All-Defensive Team member, five times on the first team, he is regarded as one of the most feared perimeter lockdown defenders ever, though he was often accused of a dirty playing style.
