Brian Lara is a Trinidadian former international cricketer who batted for the West Indies and captained the team through much of the 1990s and 2000s. Celebrated for his elegant, powerful batting, he set and reset the record for the highest individual score in a Test innings and also holds the record for the highest score in first-class cricket, feats that stood out even as the West Indies team around him declined from its earlier dominance.
