Brendan Lowry

Brendan Lowry, born on 11 July 1959, is an Irish former Gaelic footballer who played for his local club Ferbane and for the Offaly senior county team from 1981 until 1992. He attended St Joseph and St Saran's Secondary School in Ferbane. He scored three points to help Offaly to victory in the 1982 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship final, which remains the most recent occasion on which Offaly won the Sam Maguire Cup, and two of his brothers, Mick and Seán, also played on that winning side. After his playing career he managed the Westmeath senior team between 1997 and 2000, and received a controversial six-month ban, later lifted, after protesting against a tackle in the 2000 O'Byrne Cup final. His son Shane is a professional golfer.
