Blake Griffin, born on March 16, 1989, is an American former professional basketball player who spent most of his career with the Los Angeles Clippers of the National Basketball Association. He played college basketball for the Oklahoma Sooners, where he was named the consensus national college player of the year as a sophomore, and the Clippers selected him first overall in the 2009 NBA draft. A broken left kneecap in the final pre-season game of 2009 cost him that whole first season, and in his debut campaign he was an All-Star, won the NBA Slam Dunk Contest and was named Rookie of the Year. Over his career he was a six-time All-Star and a five-time All-NBA selection, and he is widely regarded as one of the best slam dunkers of all time. He was traded to the Detroit Pistons in January 2018, signed with the Brooklyn Nets in March 2021 and with the Boston Celtics in September 2022, and retired in 2023.
