Björn Otto is a German pole vaulter, born in Frechen in North Rhine-Westphalia on 16 October 1977. He stands 191 centimetres tall, weighed 90 kilograms in competition and represented LAV Bayer Uerdingen/Dormagen of Krefeld. His Olympic appearance came at the 2012 Summer Olympics, where he won the silver medal in the men's pole vault for Germany. Away from the Olympics he collected a steady run of international medals: a bronze at the 2007 European Athletics Indoor Championships and a silver at the same event in 2013, a bronze at the 2013 World Championships in Moscow, a silver at the 2012 World Indoor Championships in Istanbul, and a silver at the 2012 European Championships in Helsinki. Earlier in his career he won bronze in the pole vault at the 2003 Summer Universiade and gold at the 2005 Universiade in Izmir.
