Bernd Nickel (15 March 1949 to 27 October 2021) was a German professional footballer who played as an attacking midfielder or striker, nicknamed Doktor Hammer for his straight, powerful shots. He spent most of his career at Eintracht Frankfurt, joining in 1966 and scoring 141 goals in 426 Bundesliga games. He won the DFB-Pokal in 1974, 1975 and 1981 and the UEFA Cup in 1980. He was known for long-distance shots and free kicks, and scored four Olympico goals from all four corners of the Waldstadion. He finished his career at BSC Young Boys, was capped once for West Germany and competed at the 1972 Summer Olympics.
