Agustín Sauto Arana, known as Bata, was a Spanish striker born on 11 May 1908 in Barakaldo, Biscay, who died on 21 August 1986. He started at his hometown club Barakaldo CF. His nickname comes from the overall, a bata in Spanish, that he used to wear, made by his mother so that he would not stain his better clothes. He signed for Athletic Bilbao in 1929 and spent most of his career there, scoring 208 goals in as many matches in all competitions and winning four La Liga championships, in 1929-30, 1930-31, 1933-34 and 1935-36, along with the Copa del Rey. He won the Pichichi Trophy in 1930-31 with 27 goals. On 18 February 1931 he scored seven times in Athletic Bilbao's 12-1 defeat of FC Barcelona, although some sources credit him with five goals and others with as many as eight. The outbreak of the Spanish Civil War effectively ended his top-level career at 28. He rejoined Barakaldo in 1938, retired at 35 after four seasons in the Segunda División, and won one cap for Spain, in a friendly against Italy on 19 April 1931.
