Bafétimbi Gomis

Bafétimbi Gomis is a French former professional footballer who played as a striker and was born on 6 August 1985. He came through the youth ranks at Saint-Étienne, made his senior debut there in 2004 and had a loan spell at Troyes in Ligue 2 before joining Lyon in 2009. Over five seasons at Lyon he played 244 official matches and scored 95 goals, winning the Coupe de France and the Trophée des Champions in 2012. He later played for Swansea City in the Premier League, spent a loan period at Marseille and was top scorer for Galatasaray when they won the Süper Lig in 2018. He made twelve appearances for the France national team between 2008 and 2013, scoring three goals, and was in the squad for UEFA Euro 2008. He is also the third fastest hat-trick scorer in UEFA Champions League history, and he announced his professional retirement in 2024.
