Azumah Nelson, nicknamed the Professor, is a Ghanaian former professional boxer born July 19, 1958, who competed from 1979 to 2008 and is widely regarded as one of the greatest African boxers of all time. He held the WBC featherweight title from 1984 to 1987, winning it by knockout, then won the WBC super-featherweight title twice between 1988 and 1997, and earlier held the African and Commonwealth featherweight titles from 1980 to 1982.
