Ayumu Hirano is a Japanese snowboarder and skateboarder, born on 29 November 1998 and raised in the snowy coastal city of Murakami in Niigata Prefecture. His father, a surfer, built the Nihonkai Skate Park there, and Hirano started skateboarding at four and snowboarding half a year later. He won silver in the superpipe at the 2013 Winter X Games at fourteen, the youngest medalist in X Games history, then took Olympic half-pipe silver in 2014 and 2018 and gold at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, which makes him a three-time Olympic medalist. He also competed in skateboarding at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, so he took part in all three consecutive Olympic Games in East Asia between 2018 and 2022. Burton has sponsored him since he was a fourth-grader.
