Annie Guglia is a Canadian skateboarder and LGBTQ rights activist, born on 15 November 1990 and raised in Montreal, who identifies as a lesbian. She made her Olympic debut at the age of 30, representing Canada in the women's street event at the 2020 Summer Olympics, where skateboarding was added for the first time. She reached Tokyo in an unconventional way, having failed to qualify and not been picked in the first Canadian contingent, before being added as a substitute for an injured athlete. She began competing in 2001 at eleven and considered quitting at seventeen after seeing that female skateboarders received less attention and fewer international opportunities than their male counterparts, then focused on her higher education before returning to the sport.
