Anna Kournikova

Anna Kournikova is a Russian former professional tennis player, born on 7 June 1981, who later became a model and television personality. Her appearance and celebrity status made her one of the best known tennis stars worldwide, and at the peak of her fame her name was among the most common search strings on Google Search. She never won a singles title but reached world No. 8 in 2000. She found greater success in doubles, where she was at times the world No. 1 player, and with Martina Hingis she won Grand Slam titles at the Australian Open in 1999 and 2002 and the WTA Championships in 1999 and 2000. The pair called themselves the Spice Girls of Tennis. Serious back and spinal problems, including a herniated disk, ended her professional career in 2003.
