André-Pierre Christian Gignac, born on 5 December 1985, is a French professional footballer who plays as a striker. He began in the Bouches-du-Rhône with local clubs Fos-sur-Mer and Martigues, moved to Brittany in 2002 to join Lorient, and spent a loan spell with the amateur side Pau. He joined Toulouse in 2007 under controversial circumstances and, after a difficult start, finished the 2008-09 season as the top scorer in Ligue 1 with 24 goals. He then signed for the defending champions Marseille, where he won two consecutive Coupe de la Ligue titles and the Trophée des Champions. When his contract ended he moved to Mexico and joined Tigres UANL, winning five Primera División titles over eleven years, taking the top-scorer award three times and becoming the club's all-time leading scorer. He played for France from 2009 to 2016, appeared in all three of the team's matches at the 2010 World Cup and played at UEFA Euro 2016, including the final lost to Portugal.
