Alexander Ovechkin is a Russian professional ice hockey left winger and captain of the Washington Capitals who holds the National Hockey League record for career regular season goals and is the only player to have scored 900 regular season goals. He has won the Maurice Richard Trophy as the leagues leading goal scorer a record nine times, the Hart Memorial Trophy as most valuable player three times, and helped the Capitals win their first Stanley Cup in 2018, when he was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff most valuable player. In 2017 he was named one of the 100 Greatest NHL Players of all time.
