Alec Chamberlain, born on 20 June 1964, is an English former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Across a playing career of 25 years he made 788 league appearances, and the last 11 years and 247 of those appearances came with Watford. He began as a trainee at Ipswich Town without playing for the club, then moved through Colchester United, Everton, a loan at Tranmere Rovers, Luton Town and Sunderland, where he was part of the side promoted in 1995-96. Spells as understudy at Chelsea and Liverpool brought no league games, though he collected a League Cup winner's medal as an unused substitute. At Watford he won the Division Two title in 1997-98, was named Player of the Season, and helped the club reach the Premier League in 1999 through the play-offs. He later became the club's goalkeeping coach and received a testimonial match.
