Aksel Lund Svindal is a retired Norwegian alpine ski racer born December 26, 1982, in Lorenskog, Akershus, who competed across 17 World Cup seasons between 2002 and his retirement in 2019. He won the overall World Cup title twice, in 2007 and 2009, took Olympic gold in the super-G at the 2010 Vancouver Games and in the downhill at the 2018 Pyeongchang Games, and earned nine World Championship medals including five gold across the downhill, giant slalom and super combined disciplines. With his 2013 world championship downhill victory he became the first male alpine racer to win titles at four consecutive world championships, and across his career he took 36 World Cup victories.
