Equestrian Sports

Aidan Coleman is a retired Irish National Hunt jockey, born on 17 August 1988, who spent a seventeen-year career riding in Great Britain. Raised in the village of Innishannon near Cork, he moved to England in 2006, rode his first winner in October 2007 and won the 2008/09 champion conditional jockey championship with 55 winners. Over his career he rode four winners at the Cheltenham Festival and thirteen Grade 1 winners, among them Paisley Park in the 2019 Stayers' Hurdle and Put The Kettle On in the 2020 Arkle Challenge Trophy and the 2021 Queen Mother Champion Chase. He rode in nearly every Grand National from 2008, finishing second on Balko Des Flos in 2022. A serious leg injury in a fall at Worcester in June 2023 ended his riding, and he announced his retirement on medical advice in April 2024.
