Adolf Seger is a West German freestyle wrestler, born on 2 January 1945 in Freiburg im Breisgau, who is counted among the finest German wrestlers of his era. He won Olympic bronze medals at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, in the freestyle welterweight class, and at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, where he moved up to middleweight. His brother Edmund Seger also wrestled at the Olympics, and their father Karl coached all six Seger brothers. Beyond the Games, Seger took two world middleweight titles, in 1975 and 1977, a silver medal in 1978, three European titles between 1972 and 1976 and ten consecutive West German national championships from 1971 to 1980. He later competed in veterans tournaments and wrestled for AV Germania Freiburg-St. Georgen, the club where he afterwards coached. Olympedia records him as a postman by trade and, later, a regional politician.
