Dutch Boyd is the common name of Russell Aaron Boyd, an American professional poker player born on December 24, 1980, who is based in Culver City, California and comes originally from Columbia, Missouri. He has said he was inspired to play online poker day and night during his last year of law school by the 1998 film Rounders. After graduating he moved to California, played poker by day and worked at a department store at night. With his brother he decided to start an online casino specializing in poker, raising 50,000 dollars from family and friends to launch the PokerSpot website, which eventually failed and sparked controversy. After the failure of PokerSpot he reportedly suffered a series of self-alleged mental problems that led to a short commitment in Antigua.
