Abel Kiviat

Abel Kiviat (1892 to 1991) was an American middle-distance runner who later worked as a track coach and press agent. At the 1912 Stockholm Olympics he won a gold medal in the 3000 metres team race and a silver medal in the 1500 metres. He competed for and coached the Irish American Athletic Club and was later a member of the New York Athletic Club. He died in 1991 aged 99, and at the time of his death he was the oldest living American Olympic medalist. His long life stretched from the early years of the modern Olympic movement into the last decade of the twentieth century.
