Snowboarding is a winter sport in which a rider descends a snow covered slope standing sideways on a single board attached to both feet. Its competitive disciplines include halfpipe, slopestyle, big air, snowboard cross and alpine racing, and it has been part of the Winter Olympic programme since the 1998 Nagano Games.
