ZERTZ is a two-player abstract strategy game designed by Kris Burm and published in 2000, the third title in his GIPF Project series of seven connected abstract games. Players place and capture marbles in three colors on a hexagonal board built from removable rings, and the board itself shrinks over the course of play as emptied rings are taken out. Because neither side starts with pieces already on the board, players must balance placing new marbles against forcing captures, since a capture is often mandatory once available. A game typically runs about thirty minutes, involves no element of chance, and is suited to players eight and older. Publishers have included Rio Grande Games, Don and Co. and Schmidt Spiele.
