Xtractaurs

Xtractaurs is a line of toys made by Mattel, introduced in 2009, that fuses physical action figures with an online game. Each dinosaur-shaped toy is fitted with a TRS port, and players use a USB-connected DNA extractor gun accessory to draw genetic data from the toy and upload it to a computer. After installing the companion software and creating an account, a player can take the resulting digital dinosaur into online games. Gameplay centers on extracting DNA samples from several different dinosaur toys and combining that genetic data to create hybrid creatures, which battle Megavores, ancient reawakened dinosaurs that serve as the line's antagonists. Each individual dinosaur toy carries its own special abilities, which carry over into its DNA and enhance the effectiveness of any hybrid built from it.
