Westbang

Video game

Westbang is a Wild West themed shoot 'em up developed and published by the Czech studio Rake in Grass, built as a tribute to Sega's 1984 arcade game Bank Panic. It was first released in 2000 for Microsoft Windows as shareware, with an iOS version following in 2009. The single player game casts the player as a newly sworn sheriff defending a frontier town's bank after the previous lawman is killed. Bank doors open at random to reveal either an outlaw or an ordinary customer, and the player must fire only on the criminals while sparing bystanders; the game also includes quick draw duels in which the player may only shoot after an outlaw draws first. The game progresses across twenty five levels, each introducing new types of outlaws to face.
